Lloyd passed away peacefully June 10, 2015 at the Heights at Mount View. He was born in Victoria at Montreal Street 98 years ago and lived a full and active life in the city he loved, marrying and raising a family. He was predeceased by his wife, Phoebe of 64 years. He leaves behind a daughter, Sandra Sims (Tom); sons, Peter (Lois) and Dean and seven grandchildren. He was the last surviving sibling of his family being Wes, Irving, Muriel and Alice. He served in the military (army) and was a member of the RCL Pro Patricia Branch No. 292. He worked at the Empress Hotel for 40 years until his retirement. He joined the Gorge Soccer Association in 1961 and was a long-time manager with both juvenile and senior Gorge Soccer teams. He was the oldest Gorge Old-timer. He was a true character and an entertainer at all times.
For Lloyd's past work with the club, Gorge had named a Youth Trophy after Lloyd - The Loyd Strickland Award for Outstanding Boys Junior (u12-U14) MVP.
