McMILLAN, James Archibald "Archie" September 8, 1932 – February 11, 2015

James McMillanIt is with sadness that we announce Dad's passing on February 11, 2015. Born September 8, 1932, dad is survived by son, Wayne (Jean) and daughter, Chris; grandchildren, Sandra (Kevin), Colin (Katie); sister, Marg and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by wife, Marilyn; sisters, Helen and Agnes; nephew, Drew and brother, John. Born on James Island,

Dad moved to Vic West as a young child where sports became a big factor in his life. He was especially proud, along with his teammates, of being a founding member (goaltender) of the Gorge (Hotel) Soccer Association and going on to win a few Jackson Cups. He also spent time with Victoria United of the old Coast league. His work career started with a stereotyper apprenticeship at the Victoria Times newspaper, where he made many lasting friendships.

Eventually dad and his brother John purchased the Six Mile House, which they operated for several years. After selling the Six Mile, dad returned to work for the now Victoria Times Colonist, until his retirement at age 60. Dogs, boats, "the Farm" and for the last 20 years, "the Property" on Finlayson Arm, along with his children, grandchildren, and many friends brought great joy and satisfaction to Dad's life. Oh ya, and the occasional beer. All in all, he lived a great life, mostly in good health, with great friends and a family he loved.

Archie was a member of our "Original 1956 Team". He was a true gentleman and a legend of our club.
